47 CATS FOUND IN HOMELESS MAN’S CAR

As per the New York Post, the homeless man had been living with the cats in his car “for some time”. Animal Humane Society investigator Ashley Pudas said the man may have been spotted by a passerby.

As the United States heads into the summer season, the soaring temperatures became a worrying factor. The publication reports that the temperature rose to 32℃ on 14 June.

“Unfortunately, with the heat yesterday he recognised that it was above and beyond what he was capable of at this time. And he let us help them out,” said Pudas on the homeless man.

HEALTH CONDITIONS

Although the cats lived in blistering conditions, most of the cats only had minor medical issues.

“While I was out on scene, I was kind of watching everybody as they were coming out one by one. And a majority of their problems were kind of common things found with [a] high population of animals.”

“Some hair loss going on, some thinning of the hair, as well as some injuries like lacerations, maybe puncture wounds, just from cats fighting each other, getting too close to each other.”

VET EXAMINES 47 CATS

In a statement, the Animal Humane Society said the cats have been examined by veterinarians.

“Despite the extreme heat and unsanitary living conditions, the cats are in relatively good health – though most are dehydrated and a little untrusting of our helping hands. It will take days, if not weeks, to provide the ongoing care with each animal needs.”

The 47 cats have been placed on adoption.
