Boksburg man killed in a hail of bullets, another injured

A Boksburg man was found shot multiple times in his bullet-riddled vehicle on Asquith Road on Friday evening.

THE BOKSBURG MAN WAS DECLARED DEAD ON THE SCENE

ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said paramedics arrived at the scene at 20:20.

“Paramedics arrived at 20h20 to find the local authorities already in attendance. A light motor vehicle, riddled with bullet holes, was found smashed through a boundary wall.

“A man was lying in the driver’s seat while another man had already been pulled from the car.”

ANOTHER MAN WAS SHOT AND INJURED IN THE SHOOTING

Meiring said paramedics assessed the men and found that the man inside the vehicle had already died of his numerous gunshot wounds.

“The other man was found with two gunshot wounds to his right arm.VThe man was treated and transported to a nearby hospital for further care.”

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.

Meanwhile, in an unrelated incident, a man was killed in a head-on collision on the R21.

MORE LIVES WERE LOST ON FRIDAY EVENING

Meiring said the accident happened between a towing truck and a light motor vehicle on the R21 near the R23 offramp in Kempton Park.

“Paramedics arrived at 23h57 to find the towing truck and light motor vehicle in the right-hand lane smashed together. On closer inspection, paramedics found a man, believed to be in his 50s, lying trapped inside the car.”

He said the man had already succumbed to his numerous injuries. Nothing could be done, and he was declared dead on the scene.

“The driver of the towing vehicle, fortunately, escaped injury. It is understood that the light motor vehicle was travelling on the wrong side of the highway.”

Meiring furthermore said local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
