Chiefs were known to be very keen on bringing SuperSport United defender Luke Fleurs to the club early next year.

Sources had even indicated that there is a strong possibility the two clubs could reach an agreement in the near future, with Fleurs currently in the final months of his initial agreement with SuperSport.

However, in an exclusive with SABC Sport, SuperSport United CEO Stan Matthews confirmed that club has retained the services of the young player, although there is an interesting clause that has been included in a new long-term contract.

“I can tell you that Luke has recommitted his future to SuperSport by agreeing to a three-and-a-half-year deal. It’s good news, and we have told the player we will not stand in his way if a good opportunity comes along,” Matthews explained.

“The club has inserted a local and international buy-out clause should there be an offer we believe makes sense for the club and for Luke.”
