It seems Will Smith did not slap and reprimand Chris Rock enough because the comedian, even with a red cheek, reportedly still took another jibe at him backstage on the Sunday 27 March.

ANOTHER JOKE BY CHRIS ROCK?

The 57-year-old actor and comedian – who was slammed by many for making a distasteful joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s hair loss condition (alopecia) at the 2022 Oscar Awards – reportedly had more to say about the Smiths backstage.

According to media publication, OK!, Rock tried to play off the slap to the gobsmacked crew and fellow presenters by making a joke about one of Will Smith’s other Oscar-nominated roles.

“That’s the only time you get hit by Muhammad Ali and it doesn’t leave a scratch,” Death at a Funeral actor said, referring to Will’s 2001 movie, Ali.”

A source also revealed that he partied the night away with Israeli-American talent manager Guy Oseary and other Hollywood A-listers at Oseary’s home.

WILL SMITHS EMOTIONAL SPEECH AND APOLOGY

So much happened after the viral moment, which will go down in history as one of the most shocking Oscar moments.

For starters, Will Smith went on to win best actor award for King Richard. With tears streaming down his face, the award-winning actor compared his own actions on the night to those of Richard Williams, who coached and managed his daughters to remarkable tennis success.

“Richard Williams was a fierce defender of his family,” he said.

The following day Smith apologised to Rock for his actions, admitting he was “out of line.”

OSCARS RATINGS SKY-ROCKET

Meanwhile, preliminary audience figures (revealed by broadcaster ABC on Monday) represent a significant recovery for the awards ceremony when compared to last year’s record-low 9.85 million live viewers. Although they are still the second-lowest in televised Academy Awards history, it has been reported that 15.36 million Americans tuned in.
