Solomons had been playing in Sweden last season after being released by Ajax Amsterdam the previous seasons.

Solomons was touted as one for the future

Once touted as a promising centre back prospect for South African football, Solomons left the country, after impressing Ajax Amsterdam academy coaches with his initial assessment. He then signed for the Dutch giants from the now defunct Ajax Cape Town. It didn’t take him too long to settle in the Netherlands, as he quickly established himself as a regular fixture in the club’s age group structures.

His good form for the Ajax Amsterdam academy saw him continue to receive call ups to the South African age group national teams. After one season of regular football for their reserve side, Solomons struggled to get the same game time the next season. It then went down hill for the player from there. Soon his contract would run out at the academy and it was no surprise when it was not renewed.

Solomons would then go on to win a contract at Swedish top flight side Varbergs BoIS before he also parted ways with them at the beginning of this year. Now according to KickOff.com the player is currently under assessment at Stellenbosch and is trying to impress coach Steve Barker in the hope of signing for the Western Cape club before the end of the season. It is also believed that the player is more than open to an immediate return Europe should that opportunity arise.

Solomons has experience playing for Ajax Amsterdam in the Uefa Youth Champions League. So should Stellenbosch sign the player, they would be getting a player who has considerable ability as well as a sound development to his football. Stellenbosch are currently in sixth position on the log and are on course for their highest place finish in DStv Premiership.
