Sundowns take on Al Ahly in the CAF Champions League on Saturday and will be without the services of Sirino.

Sirino no longer a Sundowns regular

Sirino has found the going tough at Sundowns over the last two seasons and that has coincidently been due to their weekend opponents. The Uruguayan settled into South African football almost seamlessly, quickly becoming a household name. It was then no surprise that there would quickly become interest building in the player’s services and it would come from the North of the continent.

First it was former Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane, who would try to keep Sirino away from the clutches of Al Ahly, before an interesting turn of events would see the player being courted by Mosimane himself for Al Ahly, shortly after being appointed as the coach of the Egyptian Red Devils.

He reveals a potential return date

Now with Sundowns set to take on Al Ahly in a second CAF Champions League encounter on Saturday, the squad was sent out for training for 15 minutes in front of the camera’s of the media. Of course an injured Sirino was not seen as part of the group, and in the end, he was spotted coming out of what looks to be a physiotherapy session, by a The South African News journalist. Spotting a slight limp as he was walking away, Sirino was quizzed on how his rehabilitation was going, to which he respond. “Good, I think two weeks left now”, before answering a phone call.

Sirino had initially made his way back from a fractured nose, before he then picked up a calf strain  in a training ground friendly match. The trickster would’ve undoubtedly felt hard done by, for suffering injuries at a period where he was seemingly starting to get a look in to the Sundowns match day squad again.
