World champions France will play South Africa for the first time in nearly 12 years when they lock horns on Tuesday, 29 March 2022.

It will be the first time France have faced South Africa since a 2-1 defeat at the Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein during the 2010 Soccer World Cup in Mzansi.

South Africa scored goals that memorable night through Bongani Khumalo and Katlego Mphela while France replied with a late consolation effort by Florent Malouda.

Things improved over the years for France who would go on to beat Croatia 4-2 in the final of the 2018 World Cup in Moscow, making them the defending champions for this year’s World Cup in Qatar starting on 21 November.

Les Bleus are ranked third in the latest FIFA world rankings with South Africa in 68th place.
