Bafana Bafana will face a France team that looks like it will be much changed from the side that played against Ivory Coast.

France to make changes

On the same night that South Africa played to a 0-0 draw with fellow African’s Guinea, France were able to beat Ivory Coast 2-1 at the Stade Valderome, in Marseille. In that game Hugo Lloris was the goalkeeper for the French and led the team out. Deschamps has now confirmed that the Tottenham Hotspur shot stopper will be given the night off on Tuesday.

Deschamps then confirmed that AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan who made his debut for Le Bleus as far back as 2020, will make his first started for France against Bafana Bafana on Tuesday. Two other players that started Friday night’s game are Paul Pogba and Aurelien Tchouameni. Deschamps also confirmed that they were doubts for the friendly on Tuesday, with Pogba carrying a foot injury while Tchouameni was said to have come down on a bit of fever the day before. The two players trained separately from the main group as a result.

Potential starters

Their potential absence then means there could be starts for the N’golo Kante and Adrian Rabiot who both did not participate in the first game. Another player that Deschamps has hinted would start against Bafana Bafana for France was Manchester United centre back Raphael Varane. Varane was the player who was designated to sit with Deschamps at his press conference, which is usually sign that he will start the game the next day.

SA starters

Bafana Bafana on the other hand, have confirmed that the team has a clean bill of health heading into this fixture. Coach Hugo Broos has already confirmed that Bongokuhle Hlongwane, Fagrie Lakay and Sydney Mobbie will start the game against France. Captain and goalkeeper Ronwen Williams is also expected to be amongst the starters for the game.
