Speaking to the media upon Al Ahly’s arrival at OR Tambo International Airport on Wednesday, Mosimane, for him, said the real contract is on the pitch.

What Mosimane said was that the bumper deal he agreed to with Al Ahly would be meaningless without good and positive results.

He is aware that Al Ahly can pull the trigger on him at any given time if he doesn’t deliver, adding that signing a two-year deal doesn’t necessarily mean he will be in Cairo for that period if he doesn’t win trophies.

THE REAL CONTRACT IS ON THE PITCH, SAYS AL AHLY’S MOSIMANE

“The [real] contract is on the pitch. We had been back and forth about it. The team is happy, and I am happy; that’s more important,” Mosimane told reporters.

“The duration of the contract doesn’t mean you will stay until then (2024). If you keep winning, of course, [you will stay until then] but if you don’t win then the contract is different.

“The contract is just good for disputes in case we divorce then you go to the paper,” added Mosimane.

MOSIMANE SUGGESTS HE WOULDN’T HAVE LEFT AL AHLY FOR ANOTHER AFRICAN TEAM

Mosimane went further to reveal that this isn’t just a contract for him but a contract that requires him to challenge for every trophy on offer across the African continent.

He said there was no way he was going to leave Al Ahly for another African team as he feels the defending CAF Champions League champions are the biggest team on the continent.

“It’s just not a mere contract but a contract for the team that plays in all the tournaments on the continent until the end,” he continued.

“So, where do you want to go if you don’t want to stay here? Unless you move over the continent then it’s a different setup but beyond the borders, you have a challenge with the Europeans; they come from big teams in the gulfs,” concluded Mosimane.
