Kaizer Chiefs have bolstered their defence ahead of next season with the acquisition of a high quality utility defender!

According to reports, the Glamour Boys have already agreed a deal to sign former Bidvest Wits and current Stellenbosch star Zitha Kwinika, or formerly known as Zitha Macheke.

A product of the Kaizer Chiefs academy, Kwinika has featured for the likes of Chippa United, Thanda Royal Zulu, Bidvest Wits and Stellenbosch.

Kaizer Chiefs sign star PSL defender!

“Kaizer Chiefs have agreed terms with Stellenbosch FC to lure their captain Zitha Kwinika back to Naturena ahead of the 2022/23 DStv Premiership season.” an IdiskiTimes report read.

“Kwinika, a product of the Amakhosi academy, has agreed personal terms with Chiefs, while the two clubs have now also agreed the transfer for an undisclosed fee, iDiski Times can confirm.

“Kaizer Chiefs had been pursuing the defender, along with a couple of other highly-rated talents at the club in the January transfer window but were initially rebuffed by the club due to their asking price.

“However, they’ve now come to an agreement to allow their captain to return to his boyhood club, a move he was keen to make since first hearing of interest from the Soweto giants.”

While the transfer fee remains undisclosed, according to Transfermarkt, the 28-year-old defender is valued at approximately R12 million.

Considering the fact that Kwinika’s the captain and arguably one of the most important Stellenbosch players, it’s hard to believe they’d let their star join Kaizer Chiefs for a ‘bargain’!

Kwinika can play at both right-back as well as central defence while he’s also been deployed by Stellenbosch head coach Steve Barker in midfield.
