Kaizer Chiefs have been handed a major blow in the race to sign former Bafana Bafana star Ayanda Patosi.

According to reports, the midfielder has began training with Cape Town City FC ahead of the new season.

The Citizens began their pre-season training camp today and Patosi was allegedly present!

Patosi has been linked with a move to both Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates during recent weeks.

The former Bafana Bafana star who plies his trade in Iran recently admitted he was open to a move back home.

Kaizer Chiefs target spotted training with CT City!

“Ayanda Patosi, whose contract with Iranian side Foolad expires at the end of the month, was part of the first group of players that trained at Cape Town City on Wednesday under the watchful eye of Eric Tinkler.” a FarPost report read.

“With the Caf Champions League coming up. Tinkler would gladly have the experienced winger in his dressing room.”

Patosi open to SA return!

“In terms of coming back to South Africa, I am open to anything.” Patosi told SoccerLaduma.

“I can’t rule out anything. You can never really know. And I can’t say I won’t be coming back to South Africa next season.

“I do see articles online linking me with a return to South Africa, and that Kaizer Chiefs and other clubs are interested in me. But I have not spoken to anyone about joining any of the clubs.

“I don’t really know what’s going to happen, and I haven’t made my decision.

“It’s true that I have offers from other clubs as well and I have to be careful and sure in making my decision.

“I have offers from other clubs in Iran, and there’s another offer from a club elsewhere. Right now, I don’t want to mention the club or country yet.”
