Marumo Gallants have parted ways with coach Dan Malesela after deciding against renewing his contract.

Malesela’s departure comes as a huge shock given how well Gallants played during his tenure. Expectations were that he was going to stay.
At some point, Gallants looked likely to finish inside the top eight teams but they fell short of that target as they managed to finish 10th on the log.

Gallants, under Malesela, also did well in the Nedbank Cup as they reached the final, only to lose to eventual winners Mamelodi Sundowns.
Nonetheless, their efforts were enough to see them secure a place in next season’s CAF Confederation Cup tournament.

At this stage, it’s unclear what led to Gallants’ decision not to renew Malesela’s contract as they only hired him in November 2021.

“Marumo Gallants FC has confirmed that the contract of coach Dan Malesela will not be renewed when it expires at the end of this month,” reads a club statement.
“The club would like to thank Malesela for his services during the last season and wish him well in his future endeavours.”
