Moshe Ndiki has fiercely defended his decision to throw a luxury funeral service for his late pet dog Sugar Ndiki
The actor and Moja Love presenter was criticised online after he shares pics and clips of the extravagant ceremony. Sugar – a Pomeranian – died earlier this month after he was bitten by a pitbull.
ONLY THE BEST FOR SUGAR
On Tuesday 28 June, Moshe Ndiki bid a final farewell to Sugar with a grand funeral service. Hosted by celebrity eventing company, Nono Events, the service featured an all-white theme of balloon arches, portraits of his pet, and dozens of flower arrangements.
Tagging the Instagram account of Sugar Ndiki, Moshe posted: “Thank you to everyone that sent condolences, attended the funeral, and sent us heartwarming messages. You’re truly appreciated. Thank you to my friends and family for understanding my pain and how much I loved my pup @sugarndiki always and forever”.
MOSHE NDIKI CLAPS BACK AT CRITICISM
After pictures of Sugar Ndiki’s funeral found their way onto Twitter, Moshe became the target of tweeps who mocked him for being “extra”.
But the Rea Tsotella star was not taking the flack lying down. Speaking to Drum magazine, he said: “I decided to have a lavish funeral, why not? People do it for their loved ones, their kids, and their parents and why can’t I do it for my pet? He was a constant in my life. I loved him. I don’t see a reason why not and I don’t see anything wrong.”
Responding to criticism of spending his money on a funeral for a dog, Moshe added: People are people and it’s in their nature to talk and to react to things they are not familiar with. I have never been to a dog funeral. It was my first time attending and organising one.
“But it is not about critics. People like to set a certain standard for using their own standards.”
