The coach at Chiefs’ training ground was eventually identified as Kaveh Magnusson and according to Soccer-Laduma has been in the country since last month.

Magnusson has African coaching ambitions

It also appears that Magnusson is exploring the possibility of a coaching role on the continent, in the near future. This is because, according to the same publication, he had requested to shadow current Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter, with those ambitions in mind.

Magnusson is thought to have been studying the training methods of the veteran British mentor rather closely, but is not believed to be there to replace him. It is also believed that the 39-year-old coach is not expected to be appointed in any capacity by Chiefs, upon the conclusion of his agreed period of stay at Naturena.

His coaching experience

In terms of Magnusson’s background in coach, he holds a UEFA A License, and his most recent coaching job was with Newroz FC in the Iraqi topflight. He has also had stints working for Swedish clubs Djurgadens IF and Brommapojkarna.

His message to Chiefs

Magnusson would then, also go on to uncover his identity, as he went on his official Twitter account to post picture. In the picture he was with Chiefs Communications Officer Vina Maphosa. He then captioned the photo “Thanks Vina and @KaizerChiefs , good luck tomorrow!”

Juding by the date, it looks like Magnusson was wishing Chiefs the best luck ahead of their game against Baroka FC away from home. His words seem to have turned into quite a good omen for the Amakhosi, as they would narrowly scrape past Bakgakga on the night, courtesy of a late winner from Khama Billiat. It is believed that he will be departing the country soon, and it now remains to be seen whether he will be back to coach on the continent or even the country.
