When something is revealed to me repeatedly, the Lord gets my attention. Perhaps that is how He speaks to you too? For a couple of years now, I have heard the same scripture numerous times about “a new thing”.
“Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.
Isaiah 43:19 (ESV)
It is time for a new thing
It is time for us to step into the fullness of all the He has planned for our lives. His plan is for us to THRIVE, not just SURVIVE! It is time for us to walk in step with His Spirit, boldly stepping into the fullness of His word that says: “Christ in you, the hope of glory” (Colossians 1:27)
It is time for us to carry our His miraculous signs and wonders, allowing Him to stretch our tent curtains wide and not hold back (Isaiah 54:2). It is time to let go of the past – that which has overwhelmed us, oppressed us, or robbed us of our joy.
It is time for us to overcome our fear-filled slave mentality and enter the promised land that He has promised. “Whom the Son sets free, shall be free indeed”! (John 8:36).
How do we do this?
“And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; or else the new wine bursts the wineskins, the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined. But new wine must be put into new wineskins.”
Mark 2:22 (NKJV)
We need to let go of our old mindsets and allow God to make us into a new thing. This is not easy, as it addresses the deep core of our being: our subconscious belief system (which we are usually not even aware of), developed over the years of our upbringing and shaped by the world around us.
But God says we need to die to self and live for Him.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”
2 Corinthians 5:16-18 (NKJV)
We need to examine our thoughts and let go of ungodly judgements, negative attitudes, slavery mentality, and unloving behavior. God has a new identity for us in Christ – let us embrace it. We have life, and we need to live it, and take responsibility for it!
You may have a wonderful support group in your life, or you may not. Either way, it is time to for us to find the fullness of our identity, purpose and calling in and through Christ.
We need to BEHOLD the new thing God is doing with a faith-filled expectation, fully believing that His glory is at work in and through us.
Don’t wait for someone else to complete you!
God wants to be the one we turn to. Let Him be your Husband, your Father, your Friend, your Pastor, your Comforter.
Instead of thinking: “But I am only one person; I am too old; I am too young; I am too weak or too weary”, allow God to break off the old wineskin and create a new flexible wineskin that can hold the new wine of His Spirit.
Listen to His Spirit and step into your destiny. It is no longer you who lives, but Christ in you!
Father, please help me renew my mind and fully grasp my new identity in you. Help me let go of the old things and embrace this new thing you want to do in and through me. Forgive my complacency and lack of faith please Lord. Help me take hold of my promised land!
In Jesus name I pray,
