Operation Dudula leader Nhlanhla’ Lux’ Dlamini spoke to the media on Thursday evening outside the Johannesburg Central Prison, where he is being detained.

WHAT DID NHLANHLA SAY ABOUT HIS ARREST ON THURSDAY EVENING?

This comes after he was arrested shortly after he came out of the Kaya FM studios in Parktown on Thursday, where he had had an interview.

Media reports stated this came after a case was opened against him on Wednesday.

In an eNCA video on Thursday evening, Dlamini said Julius Malema couldn’t stand it when a strong young man spoke, and people listened better.

“He’s jealous of the relationship between #OperationDudula and the police.”

HE ACCUSED JULIUS MALEMA OF BEING JEALOUS

Dlamini accused Malema of being jealous and that he hated the progress made by #OperationDudula, saying it is because their progress is within the boundaries of the law.

He furthermore said his message is to all his Dudulas that they will not fall into the trap set by Malema.

“They are expecting that you all are going to act violently come the morning when the sun rises so that they can prove their narrative that these people are hooligans.

“So we are going to prove them incorrectly. we are going to allow the process of the law to happen.”

It is not certain at this stage if he has been granted bail or whether he would be spending the night behind bars.

Police were yet to confirm his arrest or provide more information.

WHY WAS HE ARRESTED ON THURSDAY?

Dlamini was arrested after a case was opened against him and members of Operation Dudula. It is believed the case was made by Soweto resident Victor Ramerafe, whose home was allegedly ransacked by Operation Dudula members on Sunday.

The group claimed to be acting on tip-offs from the community that drugs were being sold from Ramerafe’s home.

During the raid, no drugs were found, but Ramerafe said his property was damaged.

The EFF had backed Ramerafe in laying assault and theft charges against Dlamini.

On a Twitter video taken on Thursday, several members of Operation Dudula ripped up EFF T-shirts. It seems this was done outside the Johannesburg central police station.
