Orlando Pirates nominated for CAF Club of the Year for 2022

Orlando Pirates have been nominated for the CAF Club of the Year award, the African football body announced on Thursday afternoon.

The Buccaneers had a good run in the CAF Confederation Cup last season, reaching their second final in seven years.

However, they lost to RSB Berkane in the final which was played in Nigeria in May, and this was also their second CAF Confederation Cup final loss.

In 2015, Pirates lost to ES Setif on agreegate after doing well doing well to reach that final with Eric Tinkler in charge of the first team as head coach.

Now, they find themselves as the only South African team to be nominated for this category, and they have been nominated among other nine African teams.

Al Ahly who reached the CAF Champions League final where they lost to Wydad Athletic Club under Pitso Mosimane have also been nominated.
