The man who bludgeoned a five-month-old baby to death in the North West has been denied for the alleged murder.
PAROLEE BLUDGEONS BABY TO DEATH
Lazarus Chaka Hambone is facing charges of murder for allegedly killing a five-month-old baby, said the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA).
This stems from an altercation with his niece early in the month, NPA spokesperson Henry Mamothame said.
The teenager is the mother of the child and had her infant on her back at the time, Mamothame said.
“He then went outside and came back with a spade. He tried to assault his niece but ended up hitting the five-month-old baby boy.”
The baby was rushed to a local clinic and was transferred to various hospitals. He however died of head injuries at Tshepong Hospital, said Mamothame.

COURT DENIES ALLEGED INFANT KILLER DENIED BAIL
Hambone is however out on parole for a previous murder conviction at the time when he killed his niece’s baby.
He appeared before the Leeudoringstad Magistrates Court on Wednesday where his bail was denied, said Mamothame.
“The state successfully opposed bail through its statement, noting among other things, that the accused is a parolee on a murder that occurred in 2011.”
The case has been postponed to 17 January 2023 for further investigation.
“Hambone will remain detained in police custody until the matter is concluded.”
