Meanwhile, it’s also been revealed that AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan will make his first start for France.

“Yes, he will start,” Deschamps said in his pre-match press conference.  “He has constantly progressed. It is a very good thing. Mike is a quiet force, and add to that his character as a leader.”

There is good news for France on classy midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, but it does appear that Paul Pogba might not be cleared for selection.

“Aurelien Tchouameni has been in a feverish state since yesterday. Paul Pogba received a kick on the foot in the last game,” he added.

“We will check this with the medical staff to find out if they can play against South Africa.”

Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos is set to balance his squad carefully as he looks to test out all his options after fielding a largely unfamiliar line-up in the 0-0 draw against Guinea last Friday.

In the opposition camp, top French players such as Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante will be available for selection and now it’s also been confirmed that Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe has overcome a ENT infection.

“Since (Mbappe) arrived, he is radiant, he is smiling, he is as we know him,” Deschamps explained.

“Elimination with PSG is already behind him. He is part of the group, he knows that he is important for the group.”

Meanwhile, Broos has confirmed the likes of Nyiko Mobbie and Fagrie Lakay will have a chance to ‘show their qualities’ against France.

“There will be a different team. There will be 11 other players. It will be a different team because before this camp I said that I will give every player some minutes,” Broos told Safa media.

“So we started in the game against Guinea. We will do the same thing against France. There will be new players again. Mobbie was not there, Lakay was not there, so they will play against France for sure because I want to give them a chance to show their qualities.”
