PSL’S STATEMENT ON THE SANCTIONING OF ORLANDO PIRATES

Having been found guilty last week, the DC considered both parties submissions with regard to the appropriate sanctions and the DC ruled as follows:

1. Orlando Pirates was fined a monetary amount of R100 000, which is amount is wholly suspended for a period of 12 months on condition that during the period of suspension Orlando Pirates is not found guilty of a offence again – in which case the R100 000 would immediately be activated and payable and they could further be sanctioned for that other infringement which they would’ve committed.

2. They were also ordered to cover the costs of the DC hearing, with approximately four sittings administratively computed by the league and sent to Orlando Pirates for payment.

3. They were directed to send an apology to the league. In that apology they need to recognise that they had brought the league, the game, SAFA, FIFA and the sponsors in disrepute in the manner in which their officials handled Mr Sukazi.
