Severe Weather Alerts

IMPACT-BASED WARNINGS:

1.A YELLOW level 2 warning for disruptive rain leading to localised flooding of susceptible informal settlements and low lying roads and bridges can be expected over the southern Cape Winelands, western Overberg and the City of Cape Town in the Western Cape.

2. A YELLOW level 2 warning for damaging wind leading to difficulty in navigation at sea is expected between Saldanha Bay and Cape Agulhas.

FIRE DANGER WARNINGS:

1.Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the Beaufort West Municipality in the Westen Cape as well as Frances Baard District Municipality and Ga-Segonyana Local Municipality in the Northern Cape and the interior of the Eastern Cape.

Temperature and UVB forecast

Gauteng:

Temperature: Fine and cold.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Very High.

Mpumalanga:

Temperature: Fine and cold to cool but warm in the Lowveld.

Limpopo:

Temperature: Fine and cool

North-West Province:

Temperature: Fine and cool.

Free State:

Temperature: Fine and cold to cool.

Northern Cape:

Temperature: Fine and cool, but cold in the south becoming partly cloudy to cloudy along the coast.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh north-westerly becoming strong south of Port Nolloth from the afternoon.

Western Cape:

Temperature: Cloudy and cold to cool with rain over the west and south-western parts becoming showers in the afternoon and spreading to the central and southern parts.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be gale force north-westerly in the morning between Table Bay and Cape Agulhas, otherwise strong north-westerly becoming westerly to south-westerly in the afternoon.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Low.

Eastern Cape:

The Western half – Fine, windy and cool, but partly cloudy in the south. It will become cloudy with isolated showers and rain from the afternoon.

The Western half -Wind: The wind along the coast will be light to moderate north-westerly, becoming fresh to strong south-westerly from late morning.

The Eastern half -Fine, windy and cold in the north, otherwise partly cloudy and cool. It will become cloudy from late afternoon.

The Eastern half -The wind along the coast will be light to moderate north-easterly, but northerly in the south. It will become moderate to fresh south- westerly from the afternoon.

Kwazulu-Natal:

Temperature: Fine and cool but warm in places in the north.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate northerly to north-easterly becoming fresh in the afternoon.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Very High.
