Pretoria motorists have been urged to avoid certain roads as the Unemployed Social Workers Movement of South Africa (USWMSA) will hold a march on Thursday, 31 March.
The purpose is to demand feedback regarding memorandums submitted at the Department of Social Development in previous marches about the high rate of unemployment of Social Workers graduates.
MOTORISTS WARNED AGAINST UNION MARCH IN PRETORIA
Tshwane Metro Police Department spokesperson Senior Superintendent Isaac Mahamba said the marchers are expected to gather at 09:00 at an open space in Madiba Street and Kgosi Mampuru Street.
The route of the march is reportedly as follows:
From open space in Madiba Street and Kgosi Mampuru Street marchers will join Madiba Street, turn right at Sophie de Bruyn Street, left at Francis Baard Street, left at Bosman Street, and turn left at Pretorius Street to reach the Department of Social Development at HSRC Building, 134 Pretorius Street, Pretoria Central.
The following intersections are expected to be affected:
* Kgosi Mampuru Street
* Sophie de Bruyn Street
* WF Nkomo Street
* Pretorius Street
* Francis Baard Street
* Bosman Street
Mahamba said they are expected to disperse from the Department of Social Development at 12:30.
“Tshwane Metro Police officers will be deployed to monitor the march and all affected streets,” he said.
Motorists are advised to avoid affected streets and use alternative routes such as:
* Struben Street
* Paul Kruger Street
* Thabo Sehume Street
* Nana Sita Street
OPERATION DUDULA TAKES TO TSHWANE
On Wednesday motorists were also urged to avoid certain roads as the Operation Dudula movement took to the streets of Rosslyn in Pretoria North.
The group marched to submit a memorandum of demands against the alleged employment of illegal foreigners by certain companies in the area such as BMW and Coca Cola amongst others.
