Truter has been confirmed as AmaZulu’s new head coach on an interim basis after Benni McCarthy was let go earlier this season. Truter, who has been out of a job since he parted ways with Swallows in November, has taken over with immediate effect.
Having previously coached in KwaZulu-Natal with both Royal Eagles and Richards Bay, Truter has described the AmaZulu gig as a “dream job”.

However, most social media pundits have suggested Truter isn’t the right man to take on the job permanently, and it’s something he has admitted he can’t afford to think about.
“Look for me, I can’t focus on that (the permanent role) because it can stress me out. I’m looking at what I can achieve but at the same time whatever happens, people can see the quality and other clubs can see what happening,” Truter said, as quoted by Soccer Laduma.
“I’m reading in the media, not that I’m stressing about it, but there are people that don’t want me to take this job for some reason. They don’t give me the respect I deserve in this team as well.
“So yeah, replacing the only UEFA Champions League winner and leading South African national team goalscorer, Benni McCarthy, is always going to be there and I expected it, but I will continue working hard and thank the supporting staff for the support.
“I have nothing to prove, stats and results are there to be seen, previous teams I’ve coached.”
Upon reflection, Benni McCarthy arrived at AmaZulu when the KwaZulu-Natal side were in the depths of despair down in 13th place in the standings, just above the relegation zone.

AMAZULU ARE CURRENTLY 7TH IN THE LOG

While they have only won seven league matches this season, they have only lost four games – the joint-second fewest in the entire league!
