Serious consideration had turned to exploring the possibility of luring either Japan-based Malcolm Marx or Bordeaux’s Joseph Dweba to Cape Town.

Initially, it was merely exploratory as Marx is on a considerable salary with his Japanese club, while Dweba was only really at start of his club career in France.

However, according to Netwerk24, reliable sources have reportedly confirmed that negotiations with Dweba have now evolved to an advanced stage, and he looks set to make the move to the Cape after July.

With Scarra Ntubeni out with a long-term injury, it will be a massive signing for the Stormers to secure the services of Dweba, who played his first Bok game last year and boasts plenty of explosive power.

The Stormers have been impressing in the URC over the last few months

Meanwhile, the Boks got their preparations for a testing international season underway last month as head coach Jacques Nienaber and his management team hosted the first of two alignment camps.

There was initially surprise that in-form and highly-regarded Stormers star Evan Roos was said to have missed out on the first camp, but he was always expected to be involved at a later stage.

Roos and Stormers teammate Seabelo Snatla are both believed to be at the second Springbok alignment camp in Cape Town, with the latter earning due recognition after an impressive season in the United Rugby Championship.

Senatla – who will always be remembered as one of the greatest sevens players of all time – has enjoyed an extended run of injury-free rugby for the Stormers, having turned his full attention to fifteens some time ago.

His alignment camp inclusion comes at a time when S’bu Nkosi will be unavailable for the July Tests against Wales after recently undergoing surgery for an ankle injury.
