MORE disruptive rain and strong winds are expected over the next couple of days in parts of South Africa.

According to SA Weather Service (SAWS), a level 4 warning for disruptive rain and a level 3 warning for strong winds has been issued for several areas in Western Cape. 

Meanwhile, roads, intersections, and major commuter routes were partially flooded in parts of Cape Town today – with more downpours expected.

Five-year-old Marno Muller, who was fighting for his life in ICU after he was found hanging from a slide at a school in Springs, has opened his eye for the first time! 

The Johannesburg EMS Search and Rescue Unit is looking for a six-year-old Soweto boy who slipped into a manhole while playing on Monday.

In other news, the R350 grant is experiencing a bit of turbulence at the minute, but SASSA hopes that ‘multiple payments’ for June can fix their issues.

Weather Warning: MORE disruptive rain and strong winds predicted

According to SA Weather Service (SAWS), a level 4 warning for disruptive rain and a level 3 warning for strong winds has been issued for several areas in Western Cape. 

The wind, which started on Sunday, will continue until Tuesday while the rain is expected to continue until Tuesday.

It has been a miserable day in the south-west, and Cape Town has found itself battling with the elements. The wet weather is expected to cause more disruption throughout the week, and a number of roads have already been flooded in the metro.

Up to 100mm of rain is expected to make landfall before the early hours of Wednesday morning. More heavy downpours are due over the next 24 hours or so, and there is a serious threat of further flooding to low-lying areas and several informal settlements.

Five-year-old Marno Muller is AWAKE! [Update]

Five-year-old Marno Muller, who was fighting for his life in ICU after he was found hanging from a slide at a school in Springs, has opened his eye for the first time! 

According to his aunt, Nadia Minnie, the hospital phoned Marno’s mother, Helga, on Sunday to tell her she needed to hurry – they had a surprise for her.

When they got there, they found little Marno awake!

“What a wonderful but emotional day. I called the hospital at 09:00 and they said I have to come. They have a surprise for me.”

“My heart wants to burst. I want to jump through the roof and scream. My God is so great, so strong, and so mighty. Just look at Jesus opening Marno’s eyes.”

Johannesburg EMS search for six-year-old boy who fell into manhole will resume on Tuesday [UPDATE]

The City of Johannesburg EMS Search and Rescue Unit is searching for a six-year-old boy who slipped into a manhole in Soweto on Monday, 13 June.

City of Johannesburg EMS spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi said the incident took place in Dlamini 1 Mtambo Street near Eco Park.

Michael Sun, the Johannesburg Member of the Mayoral Committee for Environment and Infrastructure Services, said he was informed of the incident at approximately 11:10.

R350 grant: Which recipients will get ‘multiple payments’ in June?

SASSA has issued a brief confirmation about its R350 grant policy for June 2022. A change in legislative framework has caused an almighty amount of disruption in handing out these funds – but the agency has a plan to clear the backlog.

In a statement shared on Monday morning, SASSA explained that they will be making ‘multiple payments’ to many recipients in the days ahead.
