Former Kaizer Chiefs and Stellenbosch FC striker Ryan Moon is reportedly set to join Maritzburg United after an ill-fated stint abroad.

Moon has been plying his trade with Swedish side Varbergs BolS for the past year.

However, the 25-year-old struggling to make a lasting impression during his time in Scandinavia and is now set to return home.

“Former Kaizer Chiefs and Stellenbosch FC striker Ryan Moon is seemingly close to a return to the DStv Premiership after being offered a two-year deal by Maritzburg United,” the iDiskiTimes website stated.

“He went on to win the Golden Boot award with seven goals in 26 appearances in his first season. However, he opted not to exercise the two-year option and leave to explore other options.”

Maritzburg United have reportedly offered Ryan Moon a two-year contract as they look to strengthen their attacking options for the 2022/23 season.

Ernst Middendorp’s team currently need one point from their final two league matches to avoid relegation and retain their status in Mzansi’s top-flight next season.

Maritzburg United will next be in action at home against Baroka FC on Saturday, 21 May at 15:00 and will conclude their season away to Orlando Pirates on Tuesday, 24 May at 19:30.

Moon scored seven goals in 44 appearances in all competitions for Kaizer Chiefs and also played 37 times for Stellenbosch FC, finding the back of the net on five occasions.
