United States producer Swizz Beatz has taken to social media on Saturday to pay tribute to Fela in Versace rapper AKA, who was murdered on Friday, 10 February in Durban. Ecr reports that South African rapper AKA took to his Instagram in 2018 to send a shout-out to American hip hop artist Swizz Beatz when he spent most of his time hanging out with his ‘bestie’ DJ Black Coffee.
Kasseem Daoud Dean, better known as Swizz Beatz took to his Instagram story to remember his South African friend AKA. He wrote: “Damn King, rest easy. One of South Africa’s greats.
American rapper Bas also paid tribute to AKA: “Damn this fu**in tragic as hell. South Africa, I’m so sorry for your loss. @akaworldwide always showed me love and hospitality every time we crossed paths. Always welcomed me with open arms. Rest easy king.”

The World Is Yours rapper Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes’ death has sent shock waves through South Africa, who woke up to the news that he had been killed in cold blood in Durban on Friday evening.
The Megacy, as well as celebrities such as Nandi Madida, Donald, Da Les and Black Coffee, flooded Twitter with condolence messages.
Nandi Madida wrote: “Rest my brother … this hurts. Thinking about your beautiful daughter and loved ones in general. Thank you for the good times and laughs … I always enjoyed working with you.”
AKA’s parents Tony and Lynn Forbes released a statement on Saturday morning to confirm the loss of their 35-year-old son.

“It is with extreme sadness that we acknowledge the passing of our beloved son, and confirm his untimely and tragic passing on the evening of 10 February 2023. We are awaiting further details from the Durban police.”
“To us, Kieran Jarryd Forbes was a son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, friend, and most importantly father to his beloved daughter Kaito. To many, he was AKA, SUPERMEGA, BHOVA, and the many other names of affection his legion of fans called him by.”
Our son was loved and he gave love in return. In this time of grief, we appeal for your compassion, space, and time to congregate as a family to decide on the upcoming days.”
