You’d have to get up pretty early to beat Peter Shalulile to the gym

Mamelodi Sundowns striker Peter Shalulile believes that hard work is what makes him stand out from the crowd.

Shalulile has revealed that he starts his day at 04:00 in the morning, training hard and eating right to stay at the top of his game.

He says that the sacrifices are ones he is more than willing to make, and after another glittering season with Sundowns they appear to have paid off.

“I believe that it is easy to make your way up but to stay up there is what then becomes the harder challenge because some tend to get into a space of being comfortable,” Peter Shalulile told Kickoff.

“However, for me, I always prefer to do things that make me uncomfortable. I know everyone can work hard but then the question is can you work hard every day by waking up at 04h00 to go and work as I do. It is not easy, but it can be done because in Europe they are doing it.

“When it comes to eating, I always make sure I eat healthy even though I know how hard it is since it is expensive.”

Peter Shalulile taking care of his money-maker

Shalulile believes he owes it to himself to take care of his body.

Peter Shalulile adds: “But then in my case, it is my body and I need to take care of it. I wake up at 04h00 every morning and that is when you will see me in the gym doing spinning after that I go straight to work to train with my teammates.

“After that, I go home to relax and after that, I do finish with my trainer somewhere else after which I knock off around 18h00. Football is a job to us, and I treat it as such by working from 04h00 in the morning until 18h00.

“For some of us, this is the only thing that we know how to do so we need to invest in football and give it our all. If you invest in football, you will reap the rewards at the end of the day so for me that is how I will keep doing it.”
